While campus has very good infrastructure for sports activities, children cannot excel by infrastructure alone. Therefore, the BJS Staff have focused on generating interest and enthusiasm for sports in these children. This process has its own challenges, given the low physical and mental spirits in the children who come from impoverished backgrounds. However, with sustained efforts by the staff that are skilled in communicating and counseling, the children have developed a passion for sporting activities and we can see their excellent participation at multiple events.
The students have since been making optimum utilization of the sports ground to play games like Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Volleyball, Cricket and badminton. Interested students also make full use of the gym equipment for exercise to develop their stamina and strength. As per the policy of the Management Committee, there have been special arrangements for students specially interested in sports and those showing exceptional abilities. These students are provided separate sports diet, and separate coaches have been engaged who coach and counsel the students. Students are also given awareness of sports activities and achievements across the country. The objective of the focused sports intervention is that the students desire to excel, and therefore train and practice in their chosen field. The result is that they are able to take notable part in many sports events both in the school and outside. Student has also taken part in a number of sports competitions at the taluka, district and state levels in athletics, judo, boxing etc.
The students have even participated in national level competitions, a stunning achievement for them who had never ventured beyond their villages. The children have also won a large amount of cash prize in these competitions, which has been deposited in their bank accounts.
